Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is excited to host the DTCC AI Hackathon 2025 : Empowering India's Innovators, supported by FINOS . This collaborative initiative is aimed at leveraging AI and ML technologies to address critical challenges in the financial markets industry. This event will serve as a platform for industry experts, students and thought leaders to come together and develop innovative solutions that can enhance the efficiency, transparency, and overall performance of our business.


By participating in this hackathon, you will explore the transformative potential of AI and ML in financial markets, unlock new opportunities, engage with colleagues from diverse perspectives, foster cross-functional connections and expand your professional network.

Hackathon Participation Terms

To ensure the success of the DTCC Hackathon, all participants are required to adhere to a basic set of Hackathon rules and terms. Those terms and rules are detailed in the DTCC Hackathon Participation Terms document. By participating in the Hackathon, your company or organization (“Company”) agrees to adhere to these terms. If your Company has already entered into a separate agreement related to its participation in the Hackathon, that agreement will control instead of these Terms.



Use Case Overview

A predetermined list of use cases has been selected for this hackathon, as follows:


  • Self-Service Investigation (Chat NLP): Enable users to interact with data and perform investigations or analyses through conversational interfaces. Illustrative examples include ingesting corporate action data from multiple sources to extract key details, chatbot to provide market intelligence using capital markets data, and generate risk assessment reports from financial statements and regulatory filings.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Develop models to automatically analyze and interpret financial regulations, public legal documents, and compliance policies, ensuring adherence to relevant laws and guidelines. Illustrative examples include tracking changes in financial regulations and impact assessments, monitoring AML & KYC compliance, creating automated compliance checks.

  • Secure & Compliant AI Framework Implementation: Enable assessment and compliance of AI-based applications against AI Readiness Governance Framework to enhance their readiness and bridge the gap between the transformative potential of AI and the stringent requirements of the financial services industry. Illustrative examples include validating behavior of AI components against governance framework, generating risk profiles, evaluating security controls.

  • Agentic AI Workflow: Develop AI-driven workflows capable of reasoning, planning, and acting autonomously, adapting to context and responding dynamically to changing market conditions. Illustrative examples include portfolio assessment, trade execution strategies, creation of smart digital contracts, automating aspects of post-trade processing such as reconciliation.

  • Registration starts: May 12, 2025
  • Registration ends: May 30, 2025
  • Hackathon event dates: June 9, 2025 – June 11, 2025
  • Final Presentation: June 12, 2025

*Winners and rewards will be announced on June 16, 2025

The Hackathon will be held in a hybrid format. Participants are welcome to make their own arrangements to join us at DTCC’s Hyderabad office. Participants may also work remotely and present via Zoom.

Environment and Communication Channels

  • All hackathon activities, including presentations and judging, will take place in hybrid mode (virtually and in-person).
  • Participants are required to provide their own laptops for the event.
  • DTCC will not supply laptops or Virtual Desktop Instances (VDIs).
  • DTCC will provide teams with AWS accounts, including access to all AWS services, for their development needs during the hackathon.
  • In lieu of the AWS environment provided by DTCC, Teams can choose to build on their own infrastructure and environments.
  • Technical support will be available remotely to assist with AWS account and any issues with the collaboration tool.


Eligibility

  • Participation is team-based only; no individual entries are allowed; one team per organization.
    • Teams must consist of a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 10 members.
    • Participants are encouraged to work with their existing network to form a “Super Team”. A Super Team is defined as a team which is comprised of more than one organization. Establishing a Super Team will help foster cross-industry collaboration as well as achieve a stronger output leveraging wider perspectives.
  • One team point of contact must be identified for all teams (i.e., single-organization teams or Super Teams).
    • The team point of contact is responsible for registering on the team’s behalf.
    • Teams are required to bring their own publicly available and unrestricted data for the hackathon. Teams should use this data responsibly throughout the event to develop and demonstrate their AI/ML solutions while maintaining ethical standards and legal compliance.
